Alicia Jefferson, LCSW-C is a licensed clinical social worker who graduated with honors and earned her degree at Howard University School of Social Work. Ms. Jefferson is known for her belief in the Strengths Perspective Model and the utilization of Solution Focused Theory to empower the lives of others. She also employs cognitive behavioral and multisystemic treatment approaches, among others. She has over 20 years of experience in the field of social work and has developed expertise in addressing the needs of victims of domestic violence and sex abuse, and in treating depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, and chronic mental health issues.

 

Ms. Jefferson also has specialized skills in self-esteem issues, relationship issues, marital counseling, anger management, loss and grief, youth and young adult issues, stress/anxiety, domestic violence, child custody issues, bipolar disorder, posttraumatic stress, burnout/secondary vicarious trauma, and traumatic stress-related disorders. She works with children, adolescents and adults.

 

Ms. Jefferson also earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College School of Criminal Justice and served as a Detective in the Sex Crimes and Victim Services Unit for the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office in New York. She previously was Program Manager of the Sex Abuse Services Unit for Prince George’s County Department of Social Services. As a trained facilitator in family group conferencing with more than 10 years of experience with the District of Columbia Child and Family Services Agency she was able to address the complex needs of hundreds of families.
